Quebec City recently celebrated its 400th anniversary. At one very popular public event, there were about 20 security personnel for 250,000 people. When government lies to its people, it angers it citizens, then also becomes afraid of its citizens and in its insecurity actively acts to repress people. This is a slippery slope, and our beloved nation has recently fallen to new lows.

From day 1, St. Paul PD has treated this like a Super Bowl - which are usually not that controversial and don't attract thousands of protesters. Its much more like the 1999 Seattle World Trade Organization meetings that shut down Seattle for days - and costs millions of dollars. These issues should have been settled months ago so that agencies could have begun training together. Now the RNC is a month away.......scary.

Not surprised at the JPA business. Even if protesters don't hit their recruitment goals (I've heard anywhere from 50k - 60k from various places) if they hit something like 40k the security forces might be overwhelmed.

Great article.
