When we reported two weeks ago that Ron Paul will be joining U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann for a town hall meeting, the date hadn’t been set. Now it has: the duo will host a forum for students at the University of Minnesota’s Northrop Auditorium on Friday, September 25.

The event is billed by its host, Young Americans for Liberty, as a “Campus Revolution” — a moniker that seems to meld Paul’s campaign slogan with Bachmann’s March call for an “orderly revolution.” The topics considered include “President Obama’s health care proposal, bailout mania and the rapid rise of government control and spending.”

Bachmann’s popular that weekend: The following day she’ll head down to St. Louis to address the How to Take Back America conference. Sharing the spotlight with Phyllis Schlafly and Mike Huckabee WorldNetDaily’s Joseph Farah, Bachmann’s lunchtime address comes between “workshop sessions” on topics including “How to defend America vs. missile attack” and  “How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists.”

The Republican Party of Minnesota, Minneapolis City Republican Committee, College Republicans,  Students for a Conservative Voice and the Minnesota Campaign for Liberty are consponsoring the Bachmann/Paul event.

Correction: WorldNetDaily’s Joseph Farah, in comments, says he won’t be at the conference. He is, however, a member of the conference host committee.

Not that one of your primary concerns is accuracy, but I have never planned to attend or address this conference.

My apologies. I’ve amended the post to mention that you’re a “host committee” member rather than a presenter. Although if you’re putting your name on the event, it’s not entirely incorrect that you’re “sharing the spotlight.”

I’m sure Paul is happy that Bachmann is listening to his ideas, but I am very unhappy that Paul is willing to associate with Bachmann. Doesn’t do much to further his message, and I’m sure the more reasonable folks among Paul’s base will not look to kindly upon this either. I assume Paul hasn’t witnessed the baseless party politics Bachmann subscribes to, something Paul himself frequently speaks against.

I’m ashamed I once embraced some of Paul’s ideas.Michelle Bachman is a serious nut case and he should distance himself NOT join forces with this idiot!

Sorry to hear that Ron Paul is associating with Bachmann Overdrive. He loses credibility with this.

I wonder how these folks would react if a reverse teabag group put together a teabagger tactics for this… free speech exercise?

I think Ron-Paul’s association with Bachmann is a good thing. He might persuade her towards more sensible policies and mould her outlook.

Its good to keep good company.

Bachmann’s association with Ron Paul is nothing new. He’s long been one of her heroes and BFF. You Ron Paul supporters just haven’t been paying attention.

Guys – Ron Paul isn’t the average politician – he doesn’t choose who he associates with based on polling or based on their public persona or how popular that person is.

Basically, after decades in Washington getting shunned by the establishment, he’ll associate with anybody who wants to associate with him.

His main goal is to get out to campuses and talk to younger people, and if Bachmann can get him an appearance at a Minnesota university, so be it.

So forgive him if he’s not caught up in the partisan games, he’s more concerned about finding truth and spreading the message.

Right on Jack. You are correct. Congressman Paul is more concerned about opportunities to communicate and educate than partisan rancor and personal grudges and insults. If anything, I am impressed that Michelle Bachman has been attending some of RP’s “lunch and learn” sessions and is not afraid of the party establishment who continues to shun Congressman Paul.

Bachmann is simply preparing for her post-congress career as a well-paid right-wing shill.
