VP or not VP: Romney touts McCain, himself in Michigan
Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 11:41 am
Our sister publication Michigan Messenger has story and video from a Mitt Romney appearance in the state yesterday. Main soundbite from the speech: "I’m convinced that Michigan is going to be the state that selects the next president"–a sentiment calculated not only to play to local pride but to advance his own cause as possible McCain running mate. Romney runs strong in Michigan, where his father, George Romney, was governor from 1963-69 before becoming Richard Nixon’s HUD secretary. Back in January, Mitt Romney won the Michigan GOP primary by 10 points.
