Elwyn Tinklenberg raised $272,000 in the second quarter of 2008. The Sixth Congressional District Democrat had $225,000 cash on hand at the end of June, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. The former Blaine Mayor and state transportation commissioner is seeking to oust freshman Rep. Michele Bachmann. Tinklenberg’s fundraising figures fall in between fellow Democratic challengers Steve Sarvi ($145,000) and Ashwin Madia ($690,000).

Bachmann’s second-quarter finance report has not yet been posted by the FEC, but it’s clear that she’ll have a significant financial advantage. At the end of March, Bachmann reported having just over $1million banked for her re-election effort.
