Run, Jesse, run! The war is very much an issue. The Dems and Republicans hope to quiet it down in the runup to the election. But afterwards it will burst out again – along with hostility to Iran and a wider war in Afghanistan which Obama, the antiwar movement's Benedict Arnold, has promised.
With a filibuster in the Senate, it only takes 41 votes or abstentions to cut off war funding. No senator has been willing to do this. But Jesse is very likely to give it a shot. He has the ovarian fortitude to do it.
Ventura could also knock Al Franken out of the box, a very satisfying developmnent. Franken refused to oppose the war for years on his ill-fated Air America Radio program. I am afraid he places the interests of Israel, at least as seen from the AIPAC/Likudnik perspective, ahead of the US.

Being a US Senator is a lot different from being a governor. A governor can do quite a few things without anybody else
