VP or not VP: Pawlenty gets vetted

The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder reports that Gov. Tim Pawlenty is among the veepstakes candidates being vetted by John McCain’s presidential campaign. This means that he’s gotten the thumbs up from the candidate himself and that the VP vetter-in-chief, A.B. Culvahouse, will be scrutinizing Pawlenty’s tax returns and other pertinent documents. Here’s Ambinder’s take:

Republicans close to the McCain campaign say that veepstakes supervisor A.B. Culvahouse has begun to vet between eight and ten candidates, including Gov. Tim Pawlenty of MN and Ex-Gov. Mitt Romney of MA.
