Tim tries to act as though he's read the Constitution and cares about what it says, but he clearly overlooks the First Amendment with the whole Separation of Church and State concept. God is the God of the school board? Please. This is offensive and scary.

Republicans only care about the national budget deficit when the money's being spent under a Democratic president. Otherwise, "deficits don't matter." T P is no exception, but saying this after Bush left office is like ignoring an elephant sitting in the corner. I'm sure half the country already believes this dishonest rhetoric.

What a douche. He doesn't govern in the state of Minnesota, he is campaigning from the state of Minnesota. I don't think he could win mayor of Eagan anymore

Pawlenty is not a moderate by a long shot. He occasionally announces some "moderate" program, but if you follow the money, none of these programs ever gets funded. None of his "moderate" initiatives has gone anywhere - because he never intended any of them to go anywhere. In most cases, he had already lined up support to kill the things before he ever announced them. When it comes to governing, he's about as hard right as you can get - and mean besides.

This loser got this far because he can fake out independents that he is a moderate while assuring the right wing he is one of them. This speech doesn't follow a logic thread because it doesn't have to... he just needs to let them know he can win in a Democratic environment which every other stiff they have can not. He's the safety date to the prom for Republicans... least objectionable and not a Morman.

This is a pretty lousy speech. The joke wasn't very funny and seemed to have next to nothing to do with anything else he talked about.

Then he talked about how all his siblings are union members, but that didn't seem to have anything to do with anything else in the speech either. And he didn't mention that he has been hostile to unions his entire public career.

What the hell was he talking about? Maybe he needed all that stuff as filler so he could fit in all the code words that say "I'm one of you," but I don't think he even did that very well. How did this loser ever get this far?

I notice that he didn't miss an opportunity to kick the gays and lesbians again. But as he says, "we need to be loving and effective in the way that we communicate our views." What a prick.

Here's a microsoft word autosummary of the speech for your bemuddlement:
I’m delighted to be with you tonight, and I’m honored to be the governor of the great state of Minnesota. And of course, one of the privileges and perks of being governor of a state is you get to travel around your state and hear these great stories. Now, I share that story with you because we’re here to talk about our values. I mean, my goodness, you’re facing a lot of challenges as conservatives and people who embrace traditional values.” I grew up in a town of South St. Paul, Minnesota. No, darn right, let’s hold them accountable for results. It’s the land of Hubert Humphrey. If we – if I and the Republicans in Minnesota and the conservatives can govern Minnesota and make a difference and make progress with conservative goals and values and principles in mind, as Frank Sinatra said, “If you can do it there, you can do it anywhere.” Now, as you know, you’re gathered here because you share a belief in those values. Those values are under attack. These are not just conservative values. Our values our American values. God believes in your dad. God believes in your dad.”
