Update: Wenzel’s sign has been removed from voting. I emailed Scott Stulen, project director for mnartists.org, about the decision. “We had to remove [it] (and several others) because they violated the non-partisan spirit of the contest,” he wrote. “And actually the real problem is that the St. Paul neighborhoods are refusing to display any blatantly partisan signs.” He says he told the artists they could submit new signs that don’t mention candidates or political parties.
After Fox 9 plugged The UnConvention’s yard sign and video projects, a flurry of last-minute entries came in for its My Yard Our Message project, including this one, a reminder about one of the GOP’s top guns, by Paul Wenzel. Today’s the last day to submit designs to be considered for public voting, which starts tomorrow. Top vote-getters will be produced and distributed for display in yards near the Republican National Convention site in September.
