As the John McCain campaign rolls out a new commercial on "energy security" that uses the catchphrase "putting country first," Salon reports on McCain’s less-than-perfect attendance in the Senate: he’s missed more votes than any other senator, and he hasn’t cast a vote since April.

At this point, he has missed more votes than even South Dakota Democrat Tim Johnson, who couldn’t work for almost a year after suffering a brain hemorrhage in late 2006.

But what about the votes he has cast that pertain to energy issues? Steve Benen at The Carpetbagger Report, referencing McCain’s "Dr. No" anti-Obama ad of a few days ago, notes that McCain voted against clean-energy initiatives, including tax incentives for renewable energy and subsidies for alternative fuels.
