Al Franken will be receiving a $5,000 check from the Progressive Patriots Fund. Franken was the runaway winner in an online poll, garnering a third of the votes in a nine-candidate field. Other Senate candidates on the ballot: Democrats Mark Begich from Alaska, Erik Fleming from Mississippi and Larry LaRocco from Idaho. The Progressive Patriots Fund is a political action committee affiliated with Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold. During the 2006 election cycle it raised $2.6 million and allocated roughly $250,000 to various campaigns across the country. So far this year it has raised $1.7 million and provided $113,000 to Congressional candidates.
