Football bet shows Pawlenty likes reciprocation with Wisconsin after all

With Gophers-Badgers and Vikings-Packers football matchups this weekend, Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and Gov. Jim Doyle of Wisconsin made a couple of even bets: sausage for pork, beer for beer (pdf). But that kind of reciprocation is no longer an option for taxpayers who live in one state and work in the other, since Gov. Pawlenty nixed the states’ tax-reciprocity system.
By the Star Tribune’s reckoning, Pawlenty’s move will mean a $300 tax increase for about 8,000 Minnesotans.
If Brett Favre still maintained a residence in Wisconsin, he and his hefty income might be affected by Pawlenty’s move now that the Vikings quarterback works in Minnesota. But Favre has apparently given up his Badger State home and now lives exclusively in Hattiesburg, Miss.
