Pawlenty fisked: As Gov. Tim Pawlenty has made the media rounds in his support of Sen. John McCain (or his own veep shot) his words are increasingly coming under scrutiny. On June 8, the media watchdog site Media Matters said Pawlenty’s false statement that Barack Obama had changed his position on whether the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is a terrorist group went unchallenged by Fox News’ Chris Wallace. And on Monday, Media Matters says Pawlenty erred in discussing Obama’s proposal to raise the capital-gains tax rate, saying that "if you have an IRA or a 401(k) [...] you’re going to pay almost double the rate in taxation." Credit zine moves online: Creditland, the year-old Minneapolis-based free tabloid addressing the American economy, is reinventing itself as an online resource for "well-edited user-generated economic news." Launching July 4 — dubbed "financial independence day" by publisher Tobin Brogunier — the site will give readers a chance to submit their own stories of navigating debt. (They’re also hiring.)
Tweetin’ lowdown: The Star Tribune finally gets wind of Twitter, but its story — as WCCO’s Jason DeRusha noted at MNspeak — had comments turned off, suggesting the paper doesn’t entirely get the nature of social media.
