I could say that I support John Quincy because he is balding and does a fair imitation of a teapot ("short and stout"). But then I'm all three of the above, so my bias is pretty evident. More to the point, I know that John was a leading figure in the decision by St. Stephens' parish council to depart the premises rather than accept blatantly homophobic instructions emanating from the Roman Catholic Archbishopric.

As a former Papal seminarian, a gay man of senior years, and a fairly cogent student of these matters, I feel very strongly about conservative intransigence over well-established understandings about the nuances of human sexuality. Wrong-headed and antidiluvian are far too mild descriptors of papal revanchism in these matters and I think highly of John Q. for having voted with his feet.
