Bloggers earn collar: On the morning of his National Press Club event in which he planned to produce evidence of illegal activities with Barack Obama, Duluth native Larry Sinclair helpfully posted a picture of himself on his blog, and chided "pro Obama bloggernots" [sic] who might wish to attend the press conference: "If you do not have a pass to enter, which will be issued according to my instructions, you will not enter, anyone who is not authorized will be removed from the room by security." Turns out Sinclair, a fugitive from the law in two states, was the one hauled out in handcuffs, after liberal bloggers got their "first arrest."
Presidential tweets? Not quite: The Personal Democracy Forum just announced that starting tonight it’s hosting a presidential debate using the microblogging tool, Twitter. But wait: isn’t John McCain computer "illiterate"? Right. That’s why his side is being represented by Liz Mair from RNC communications, while Obama’s side will be repped by Georgetown professor and former Gore technology adviser Mike Nelson. Not quite the same as Barack and John plunking away at a keyboard trying to condense stump speeches to 140 characters, but interesting nonetheless. Adding to the fun: TIME and former Wonkette blogger Ana Marie Cox will be moderating. Go here to find out how to follow it all.
MinnPost goes rural: Congratulations to MinnPost on picking up a $225,000 grant from the Blandin Foundation to focus on rural coverage.
