Covanta is strongly interested in obtaining an incinerator Richburg-Fort Lawn, SC. Many of us are strongly opposed. One of the most important concern is that it seems our county officials has kept it "HUSH-HUSH" concerning any or most all information of this company having interest in our county, but worse is the fact that other than the county council and economic development in our area is trying to get it pushed - rushed through and giving Covanta "all exceptions to the ordinary rules" just to allow this without the citizens of our county any or barely any info concerning this. What do they have to hide if Covanta is such a "god-sent" with about 50 jobs that most likely won't go to anyone in our county. We are a really poor county and most of us feel if Covanta comes here it will only get poorer. We feel like our county government is like a "BOSS - HOGG" SYSTEM. Where the location is that Covanta is pushing for, we (citizens) have strong concern of the TRAFFIC of 250 trucks a day and mostly railcars also not being enough(so Covanta has indicated). This traffic would be going by 3 schools all the time. We care about our children. With the toxins contaminations going into the air, land and waters from such a place, the traffic issue and most likely a railcar yard would also have to be put into place, as most likely a solid waste, possibly a land fill would also be needed, the turbines that would most likely be put in place also, but more than most all of these most important issues is the fact that solid waste can be included hazardous from industries and be brought in from anywhere - just so long as they are transferred into our county from the local transfer stations that do or would exists. China, California, all or any of waste from all the other states or countries could also. Share with our organization some of us have managed to hurriedly organize (www.sccrap.com) to help voice to the citizens of our county information we are trying to gather on this issue. We do know, we feel our county officials and Covanta have kept most information QUIET for over a year of matter and we want to know why! We also feel that there must be more INTENT of/for this company Covanta, than the little info we have been able to obtain concerning this. We can't get infor or answers from our county officials or Covanta concerning our concerns. Please share any info with us that would help us obtain pro or con of this company. Contact our website www.sccrap.com. Thanks.

The garbage burner promoters were and are DFL'ers. Including Sen. Linda Higgins who authored the legislation to expand the burn. Sam "The Money Man" Kaplan was paid by Blount Engineering to get the site approved by Hennepin County. Charles Dayton represented Blount Engineering to get the permit approved by the Pollution Control Agency because he was connected with PCA board members Marcia "Ms. Liberal" Gelpe, another lawyer, and Jan Green, who's not so green and is Ms. Audubon Society. I could go on but the burner is a DFL project. Where were all you folks twenty years ago when we fought that fight? You can tweak the burner but you can't stop it.

If the Republi-thugs had their way, we would have garbage burners on every street corner and would not be able to see across the street. All in the name of saving a few pennies with all of their lousy pollution.

I have an idea...tax the heck out of the rich Republi-thugs based on their consumption habits. Then give that money to the environment and to the people who can not afford all of the luxuries the crooked rich can. And maybe call it something like Cap and Trade, huh?

If we all just lived a more simple lifestyle, and had smaller carbon footprints, none of the garbage burning would be necessary.
