Compared to the 2004 election cycle, Democrats are outraising Republicans by a substantial margin, according to a Federal Elections Commission report released Monday.

The Democratic Party has seen a steady income this election cycle. The Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) have raised a total of $247 million since January 2007, representing an increase of 45 percent more than the first 16 months of the 2004 election cycle.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party is seeing a slight decrease in revenue although they have still outraised Democrats. The Republican National Committee (RNC), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) raised a total of $260.4 million during the same period, a decrease of 19 percent decrease over the 2004 cycle.

A national aggregate of state and local Democratic Party committees reported raising $274.9 million during the last 16 months, a 52 percent increase over 2004. Republican committees raised $287.6 million in the same period, a 17 percent decrease over the same time frame from 2004.
