I hoped Mr. Pawlenty would elevate the Republican debate. Most Minnesotans would rather have government run health care than none. The current plans in consideration do not have the federal government running health care in any event. A public insurance option does not mean a goverment takeover of all of health care, as Mr. Pawlenty and his buddies in Medtronic and Mayo know full well. Yet he'll play the conservative cards, how ever thoughtless. If he becomes president, will he govern only conservatives, as Mr Bush and Mr Cheney did, ignoring the rest of us? Disappointing indeed.
