Rick,
Get involved in Maplewood politics. You will be surrounded by more whacks than you can shake a stick at. If you would like to explain your statement, do it in person. I think, given the opportunity, that it will be relatively easy to change your mind. There is certainly nothing that you or I can write on any blog that will help determine who the whack is, assuming that either one of us is.
While your at it, you might ask Paul Schmetzer and the Independent News why Rick, Stephan, Mary, John, Rmath, Matt, Llanas forever, Between a Rcok and a Hard Place (and numerous other bloggers) have the right to blog anonymously, but Dave Hafner does not.

Dear Paul Schmelzer,
I have answered and identified the false accusations against me numerous times. You can access the Maplewood city council records to answer your question. It is all there on CD. If you are serious or really cared you would have inquired before you publicized your article, not afterwards.
I have been setting the record straight for eight years. But the last time I talked to a newspaper reporter he quoted me against my wishes and wrote a slanted article that slandered my reputation and had 29 lies or bits of misinformation in it. Access the Lillie News and read all about it. Lies are being levied against me faster than I can repudiate them. And for what? Let me answer that question for you. For nothing more than running for a seat on the Maplewood city council.
Any other questions?

The Minnesota Independent newspaper has a blog policy which states that “Commenters assuming the identities of others or creating multiple identities in an effort to deceive are subject to removal.”
Both of the ascertions in this policy are generally inaccurate and based on false assumptions. Most bloggers simply wish to remain “anonymous.” Once bloggers identify themselves they lose the ability (and their right) to remain “anonymous” in subsequent blogs.
Such a policy opens up the potential for all kinds of abuse. Censorship and the invasion of individuals’ privacy are two specific examples. This is a poor policy and should be removed.

Dave,
Please list all 17. Also, you were contacted for this series and offered a two-sentence reply. Why didn't you set the record straight when given the opportunity?

Dear Sirs,
There are 17 statements that represent misinformation, words that are taken out of context, misquotes, and flat out lies in your article (not necessarily by the Minn. Independent but by individuals that are quoted in the article).
Poor journalism coupled with dishonest accounts make it virtually impossible to arrive at the truth by relying solely on the press for information. Why do people do this?
One cannot help but get bent out of shape by doing so, and yet many make this basic mistake time and time again. They are very good at posting blog messages without the facts, but not very adept at getting the truth.
I could very easily dispel the overwhelming misinformation but the press will not give me the time of day, and no one is knocking on my door, nor is my phone ringing off the hook. Take the time to contact your candidates and representatives and communicate with them. You will be amazed at how much you can learn and in a very short period of time.

Doesn't Michele Bachmann have an office in Maplewood?

The Sixth District is starting to look more like it's located in Alabama than in Minnesota.

I hear banjos every time I drive through that area..

Matt, if you search the newspaper archives I think you will find the truth is a bit different from what you seem to remember or want to imply.

The drama began with the election of Longrie, intensified with the election of Cave, reached its peak with the appointment of Copeland and his support from 2AM Hjelle, began to subside with Cave gone on the election of Nephew, lessened with the removal of Copeland, and now only flairs when Hjelle does his thing.

All the drama belongs to Longrie and her crowd.

Hjelle is not coming back. With Longrie gone in a few weeks Maplewood will once again become Mayberry.

All these people on the city council are an embarresment to Maplewood. Year over year they make headlines like this. Are these really they types of people that we want running the city? There always seems to be some type of drama going on with this city goverment.

I'm just guessing, but I'll bet sooner or later it's going to dawn on concern troll 'rcok' that he should just vote Smart, then share the insight.

Nice try, though.
