The lame complaint that the Matthew Shepard bill is "redundant" is absurd. We have tons of redundant law on the books, both Federally and locally, to protect corporations from government regulation and to exempt health insurers from anti-Trust rules, but you don't hear anyone on the right crying about that, do you?

Why not just admit that your opposition to the bill comes from opposition to gay rights?

Lazercat, you get all laws repealed that have enhanced sentences for killing cops or judges or politicians and then come back and tell me that there is no need for this.

Why do we need a law to cover something already in the Constitution? All we need to do is follow the law.

Bachmann, Pawlenty and their friends at the "Family Research Council" are no doubt seeing red now that the President has signed into law the first piece of Federal legislation ever to deal with gay & lesbian rights.
