That is a very inaccurate statement.  Barb Johnson had 55% on the first ballot, and increased her lead consistently after that.  From the 3rd ballot on, she needed only 1 or 2 votes to get the endorsement.  

When she started out nearly 20% ahead of Troy Parker, and increased that to 25% and eventually 30% ahead of him, that is hardly &quot;barely survived&quot;!
