An aide to Rep. Michele Bachmann quit her communications position, Politico reported on Wednesday. Michelle Marston had been responsible for helping Bachmann get a copious amount of air time on cable news shows.
While Marston didn’t have much to say on the topic, an unnamed conservative Republican House member told Politico, “When your captain’s crazy, it’s time to find a new ship.”
For her part, Marston said in an email to Politico, “I’m just not talking about it, and frankly I don’t think there’s a story here. Now, the thousands of people calling our office to tell us [they’re] coming to Capitol Hill tomorrow – that’s a story.”
Bachmann is hosting a “House Call” and urging Tea Party activists to storm the Capitol on Thursday to oppose health care reform.
Bachmann’s office has seen a fair amount of turnover since she arrived in Congress in 2006, losing more than a dozen staffers in her first two years.

Andy, since becoming a fan of the Minnesota Independent, I have arrived at the conclusion that a better name for your organization would be the Minnesota NOT SO Independent!
Bachmann’s appeal is not to “Tea Party activists” but to a much broader base of liberty-loving conservatives. She is NOT asking people to “storm the Capitol” but to make personal appeals to their Representatives and Senators for more rational action on the issue of health care.

Thanks for being a fan, Dennis!
In announcing the event on Fox News, Bachmann specifically named the tea parties. Further, “Storm the Capitol” is the language rightwing news outlets and advocacy groups — from WorldNetDaily to the Tea Party Patriots to Free Republic posters — are using to describe the event.

Dennis–
Bachmann also urged her crazed, lemming-like followers to roam the halls of Congress to “see the whites of their eyes.” Let me remind you of the other part of that infamous Revolutionary War quote:
“Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes.”
That hardly sounds like a “personal appeal … for more rational action.”

“You either love Michele Bachmann or you don’t love Michele Bachmann at all,” Marston said in an interview with POLITICO last fall.
I guess we can put Ms Marston in the latter category.

[...] Does this large-scale media moment have anything to do with the recent resignation of Bachmann’s top aide, Michelle Marston? Bachmann’s Mad Hatter reputation may be scaring away staffers. [...]
