am.mn logoThe city of Wayzata is the go-to trough for congressional campaign funds in Minnesota, according to a Smart Politics analysis of donations so far this year. Residents there gave nearly $150,000 — that’s $36.24 per person — to the state’s Reps in Washington, D.C., a total topped only by Minneapolis ($193,079), which is 100 times as populous. Oddities: of the Mill City’s 51 cents per person, almost 8 cents went to Rep. Michele Bachmann; and the fourth-ranking city in per-capita contributions is little Lilydale, where everyone lives in apartments or condos.

Elsewhere in Minnesota news this morning …

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS: Vets’ Day breakfast. At the event, Gov. Pawlenty will be joined by U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken — the same three who attended the memorial at Ft. Hood in Texas Tuesday. [Associated Press]

ST. PAUL: Really gone. That’s where the Republicans will be if they don’t tolerate moderates, says Norm Coleman. [Hot Dish Politics]

AUSTIN: The play must go on. Even with neo-Nazis in the front row. [Twin Cities Daily Planet]

SIXTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Clark staffs up. DFL state Sen. Tarryl Clark has hired experienced DFL campaign staff and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak’s pollster.  [Hot Dish Politics]

FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Not sick enough? Census data shows few of U.S. Rep. Tim Walz’s constituents lack health insurance, so their support for his yes vote on the recent reform bill is in question. [Rochester Post-Bulletin]
