This piece shows the emptiness of the Independence Party. Anyone can get the party endorsement, and if they’re famous enough to get media attention, so much the better. Platform? You’re neither a Democrat nor a Republican–the rest is just details to be filled in.

Dean Barkley should realize that there is more to building an effective party than getting someone to fill in the slots on the ballot. It’s no wonder that the Independence Party is on its way to becoming a punchline.

Not a chance.

The last thing any Independent wants is to be associated with anyone.

I’ll let the reader in on a little secret: The independent party really doesn’t exist.

in·de·pen·dent (ĭn’dĭ-pĕn’dənt)-Free from the influence, guidance, or control of another or others; self-reliant: an independent mind.

Ask Joe Lieberman if he wouldn’t mind being associated with Jesse “the body…” err, excuse me. Jesse “The Mind” Ventura. I’m sure you’ll get an emphatic “no” on that.

Besides, Dobbs wouldn’t work out on it. He comes off too much like a staunch Republican.
