Hoo boy. What are the chances that irrigation canals will be diverted (or set up expressly for) the production of poppies? More dope to flood the governments the wealthy elite wish to topple and profit from their natural resources. The Taliban had poppy production at MUCH lower levels. Who are the terrorists again? Wanna bet those who are not diverting their poppy proceeds to Karzai’s corrupt puppet U.S. government will be the first to be declared “enemy combatants?” If corruption and political unrest moves across the border (and the “terrorists”) we’ll have no choice but to “invade” the former Soviet Republics that just happen to contain the world’s largest natural gas reserves. (Wow. What a coincidence!)
Everything boils down to a race for energy. Agfghanistan makes for a nice pipeline corridor to ship the natural gas to the West, and provides all the drugs needed to corrupt and topple “uncooperative” nation states.
