Many other religions do not seek to impose their doctrines on the rest of us. Jews and Muslims don't eat pork but they don't try to to make pork illegal for us, and Jehovah's Witnesses don't go for blood transfusions but they don't try to forbid thm for us. I have no objction to this: people should be free to run their private lives as they choose, so long as their private opinions and practices do not impose on the rest of us.

I say to you and those who share your religious dogmas that nobody's forcing you to have an abortion, to get gaily married or to benefit from stem cell research. Why do you reward Society's tolerance of your private religious practices by trying to force them on the rest of us? Have you no shame?

How odd: someone who slams her opponent for allegedly putting his Islamic religious beliefs above the U.S. Constitution puts her own Christian doctrine above that document. I for one refuse to have my country subverted by fanatics of ANY religion.

Can someone come up with rational, secular, non-religious reasons for opposing abortion, gay marriage and stem cell research? I hold that these are religious positions that should not rank above the U.S. Constitution.

Ms.Torgerson, the article says you're "a Christian but not a Catholic," who "points out when her own views align with Catholic doctrine." So even though you're not Catholic yourself you seek to over-rule the U.S. Constitution with the canon religious law of the Roman Catholic Church.

Please explain to us why Catholic canon law should outrank our Constitution but Islamic sharia law should not. Where in the U.S. Constitution does it say that our laws must be acceptable to the Pope of Rome?

Many people attack CAIR without any research on the claims. Any claims about CAIR were made right after 9-11 when there were a lot of people scared about Islam. CAIR has a very American role in society it brings Muslim citizens into the political process. If someone who runs her campaign without research on her platform shows they cant be trusted with the power to vote on legislation if research won’t be done. Her message will create tensions with foreign nations. Ms. Torgerson’s views on island are shared by many but are also false. Many people are confusing foreign cultures and religion. The Culture in many countries may limit women’s rights but their religion doesn’t. It wasn’t a very long time ago when women didn’t have equal rights here and no one said anything about the united states and Christians being sexist.
Also many national Islamic organizations including CAIR condemned the terrorist attacks but unfortunately the press coverage Muslims get are terrorist attacks.
Before judging a congressman on religion base it on what he has done for his constituents. In time of economic problems Minneapolis has fared much better than most cities across America. And he hasn’t done anything in congress that shows that he is enforcing Islam amounts the American people. The Quran says that Muslims should spread the knowledge of Islam and it was meant for situations like this when poeple have many misconceptions of Islam it is better to eradicate misconceptions.
If anyone cares the first real terrorist organization was a the KKK

Ms. Torgerson’s views appear to be biast.
Her understanding of equality and freedom would also seem to call into question her qualifications to practice law. As far as I know we are still a nation of laws not subject to religious.
She must not mix ones right for practicing his or her relegion.

Torgerson is right. Ellison is associated with CAIR and together they are fund raisers for terror organisations which are factually shown and proven as HAMAS/Hezbollah and of course who are Irans henchmen against Israel. Ellison deserves to be ousted from his seat immediately, but very doubtful now the whole government in the US is infiltrated with Islamic extremists.
