The sad fact is Senate rules come with a presumption of reasonableness on the part of members. It makes sense then that if a large enough minority ceases to be reasonable, the body becomes dysfunctional. The Senate needs reform, and the filibuster is both the biggest problem and one that they can fix just by changing their rules, which makes it all the more frustrating.

The hardest part to change will be the equal representation of each state. It was a reasonable compromise in 1787 when the difference between big and small states was a fraction of what it is now. Now, when some states are 30 times the size of others, it's obsolete.

The psychopath is a social predator. He is ruthless, manipulative and often charming. Once referred to as “moral imbeciles,” psychopaths exhibit a marked lack of conscience. They are callous, remorseless and spectacularly self-centered, willing to use and abuse others to achieve their ends, and they are inclined to blame others, including their victims, for their problems and bad behaviour.
Psychotic Versus Psychopathic

Many people confuse the terms “psychotic” and “psychopathic,” but unlike psychotics, psychopaths are not crazy. They are fully aware of what they’re doing and the potential consequences. They make their decisions rationally, and exercise free choice. They don’t suffer from delusions or hallucinations, and they are not afflicted with the anxiety or anguish that the mentally ill usually suffer.

Mill, based on my observations, all I can determine is that, if it comes from the democratic side of the aisle, the supporters of republicans/conservatives in Congress are against it, even if it hurts them. It is also my observation, after paying attention to politics in this country for over 37 years, that some people will only believe something is important when/if it becomes personal. Until it happens to them, they seem to lack empathy for others who are actually suffering, even their own family members. I know it's sad, but in many cases, it's true.

Do Republicans really want to live in the world they're stalling to keep?

Don't any of them have working sons and daughters who have no health coverage, who can barely make rent much less save for a home, who are the first to get laid off when orders are cut?

How many more screw-jobs from Wall Street do we need? Those actually hit Republicans worse, because they have the money relatively speaking. Aren't they tired of being lied to, scammed, left poorer, while the financial looter dances away, rarely caught?

The Republican party is a bunch of children. When they had total control of the Presidency the House, the Senate and the Supreme Court they did nothing about Wall Street or Health care. They Held secret meetings and did not tell the Democrats where it was being held so the Democrats would have to get runners to search the Capital for the meetings. they held middle of the night votes or weekend votes to stop the Democrats from resisting their crazy policies. We need to put sanity back in the Capital The sooner we eliminate the Republicans from Washington the better.
