Executive travel: Obama, Pawlenty, Rybak all out of the office today

Minneapolis residents have to look to the neighborhood-association president level to find an elected chief executive who represents them and might actually be at the office today.
President Obama is in Norway, picking up his Nobel Peace Prize. Gov. Pawlenty is in Chile, meeting that country’s president as part of his South American trade mission. And Mayor R.T. Rybak is in southern Minnesota on Day 3 of his gubernatorial campaign tour of the state, with stops in Winona, Austin and Mankato.

Now that I think about it, a neighborhood association president isn’t an elected chief executive any more than a city council president or county board chair. So really Minneapolis residents are on their own today, elected-executivewise.
