I don't hate christians, but I do hate christianity. Particularly the hate filled ideology known as evangelicalism. No religious organizations should receive government money. If they are sincere about wanting to help people they will reach into their own pockets to pay for it. They should also not be allowed into schools. There are many in schools who do not appreciated their presence or their bringing in hate filled ideologies. Schools should protect the most vulnerable, the TLGB students, from hate groups, including religious ones. I have first hand experience, over a period of years, with evangelical christianity. I know how harmful their ideology can be to ones mental health.

@GadZooks -

My motivation is to protect your right to religious freedom under the US Constitution. This may protect you and your family from paying for federal programs in the future to teach kids or prisoners tenets of a religion that you may not relish, say Islam or Judaism, as two potential examples. Think about it. Your special group isn't likely to dominate politics in the US forever. Religious freedom is a right of all U.S. citizens, and hopefully, always will be.

addictions do ruin lives. faith-based programs that help people recover should be encouraged, up to the point of government funding.

if government is funding this approach, it is funding religious advocacy, which is just not Constitutional. if Christians think this is a cool program, they are free to support it through purely private funding.

and there are ways to help addicts recover that don't require us to subvert the Constitution to a specific religious group's point of view

and this group can do it's do-gooder work without running assemblies in public schools that include sober students who need no religious prosthelytizing while in a public school
