am.mn logoMinnesota is still in danger of losing a seat in Congress — with the odds on Michele Bachmann’s disappearing, some speculate — if the U.S. Census count comes in just a bit shy as experts have been warning it could. But the state demographer tells Minnesota Public Radio the recession has slowed immigration out of the state, and that may yet preserve the state’s eight House seats. Wanna help? Elsewhere in Minnesota news this morning …

MINNEAPOLIS: Mayor Rybak endorsed by party veterans. The military kind, that is. They’re the second DFL caucus to pick a favorite in the race for governor. [Politics in Minnesota]

ST. PAUL: Pawlenty goes to Granite State. The governor says he’s helping Republicans get elected in New Hampshire. He’s not saying if he’ll be one of those trying to get votes there. [Star Tribune]

DULUTH: Biking with food is not a crime. Three do-gooders who bring nourishment to the homeless on their bikes won’t face charges of obstructing traffic. [Duluth News Tribune]

RICE: No one knows. A settlement in a lawsuit means the question of whether city council meetings were properly closed will never be …. settled. [St. Cloud Times]

SEVENTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Peterson will run again. Republican-fueled speculation that U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson might retire is unfounded, he says. [Capitol Chatter]

SIXTH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Teachers back Clark. Education Minnesota prefers state Sen. Tarryl Clark, even if Michele Bachmann, doesn’t care who runs against her. [Political Pulse]
