Pawlenty is trying to appeal to both the committed creationists and the people who know nothing about science and think creationism might be right.

How sad that this is as scientific as a Republican candidate is allowed to be these days.

I was at a holiday party with a fellow who'd just had a "routine" operation to repair a faulty heart valve. Some heart surgery is now ROUTINE! Consider how much our knowledge of medicine has advanced in 1000 years. Consider how much our knowledge of astronomy, physics, geology, botany, and chemistry has changed in the past 1000 years. Our country cannot afford political leaders like Tim Pawlenty who have zero respect for science, for humanity's accomplishments, for humanity's ability to learn and grow. We cannot afford leaders who meet the complex issues of the world with childish, simplistic Biblical literalism. What other parts of the Old Testament will you take literally, Tim? Animal sacrifice? Child beatings? Slavery? Grow up, Tim. The country needs adults at the helm.

I believe that god created man and woman. And then they devolved into an amoeba... TPaw. A cruel, heartless amoeba, but an amoeba nonetheless.
