But the most readers flocked here for other stories: Seven of the ten most-clicked stories of 2009 were about Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Show me one site where the most popular stories are the site’s best, “ZNOFOB.” (What’s with the name? Cowardly much?) Anyone with web experience at all knows it’s the titillating, bizarre or outrageous stories that bring the traffic.

Thank you for your coverage of the medical marijuana topic.
Marijuana reform repeatedly landed at or near the top of Obama’s whitehouse.gov list of agendas Americans wished to see changed. It has proven, time and again, to be a topic that people are interested in for the myriad of societal effects it involves. MNIndy’s coverage was the most accurate of all the local media outlets in my opinion. Well done!

It’s been a great year for slamming Bachmann, Conservatives, Religious fanatics and people that think conservative is a more PC name for Facism.

How many of those Bachmann hits were from out of state, assuming you have or want to release that information. It occurs to me that now that she’s a national figure, some people would look to Minnesota media for information, even if Minnesotans get overdosed.

I could go into Google Analytics to look at each individual story to see where traffic came from. But since that’s a lot of work, I’ll just say: lots of these stories blew up thanks to pickups by national media like Huffington Post, Google News or TPM or, in the case of medical marijuana, through social-bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon. Suffice it to say, big traffic spikes are largely due to national attention for local events.

Bachman has managed to draw a lot of attention to herself by making outrageous public statements. She then takes a victim stance and complains that she has been “Palinized” I wish she would take that analogy one step further – resign.

Schmelzer’s link says a lot more about how far the “Society of Professional Journalists” has fallen than anything related to quality.

Seriously, this website has been thoroughly debunked as nothing more than an astroturf propaganda arm of George Soros, Inc. It’s funny to read, but as a source of quality information…um, not so much.
