AM.MN: Pawlenty told not to unallot or say ‘bromance’
Monday, January 04, 2010 at 8:30 am
Gimme a hug, man. First a judge says Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s use of unallotment is unlawful. Then Pawlenty’s use of terms like “bromance” runs afoul of the 2010 List of Banished Words from Michigan’s Lake Superior State University.
Elsewhere in Minnesota news this morning …
ST. PAUL: Pawlenty didn’t quite take bait. He warned of goverment “run out of the courthouse” but didn’t bite when prodded about whether Judge Gearin was a liberal, activist judge. [Forum Communications]
ROCHESTER: State train plan allows for local stop. A new high-speed rail line from Chicago could still take a Rochester route. [Rochester Post-Bulletin]
TWIN CITIES: Deborah Howell remembered. Though there is dispute as to whether the storied newswoman swore like a sailor or a longshoreman. [MinnPost; Washington Post; New York Times]
MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL: Speaking of swearing … both cities hold inaugurals. In Minneapolis, Mayor R.T. Rybak aims to stay a year before moving to the governor’s mansion; in St. Paul, Chris Coleman (Howell’s stepson) will get a musical tribute. [City of Minneapolis; St. Paul Pioneer Press]
COTTAGE GROVE: 3M beneficence burns another professor. And locals are taking out frustrations on a 3M incinerator. [New York Times; St. Paul Pioneer Press]
