Quist: Defeating liberals a bigger battle than defeating terrorism
Monday, January 04, 2010 at 8:31 am
Allen Quist, a Republican who is seeking to defeat Rep. Tim Walz in southern Minnesota’s First Congressional District, told attendees of the Wabasha County Republicans Christmas Party in mid-December that beating the “radical” liberals in Washington, D.C., is a bigger battle than beating terrorism.
“Our country is being destroyed. Every generation has had to fight the fight for freedom… Terrorism? Yes. That’s not the big battle,” he said. “The big battle is in D.C. with the radicals. They aren’t liberals. They are radicals. Obama, Pelosi, Walz: They’re not liberals, they’re radicals. They are destroying our country.”
Quist also railed against the health care reform bill. “This is the most insidious, evil piece of legislation I have ever seen in my life… Every one of us has to be totally committed to killing this travesty… I have to kill this bill.”
Quist, who has a background as a religious right figure, has been working to align himself with the Tea Party movement.

I don’t recall Pelosi, Obama or Walz ramming airliners into buildings. Who’s the radical here?
Sit down, Mr. Quist, and take your medication. You’ll feel better in no time.

Albert, I’m assuming you’ve actually READ the health care bill? No?

They all are Freedom Fighting Patriots. Isn’t it odd, however, that what’s totally missing from their lives is an actual, real, live fight for this country, like Vietnam of which Quist sat out?

Apparently Quist is unaware of the destruction caused by the former administration over eight years.

Isn’t this the guy who lost his election by a landslide during Arne Carlson’s last tenure as gov
& then got appointed by Arne despite the voter rejection?

Surprise, surprise, Quist sat out Vietnam. Just like all the other “patriots” who are only too happy to send another generation of American soldiers to war. The chickenhawks on the right are too numerous to count. But here’s a short list of those who refused to fight for America when they had their chance: Cheney, O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Bush (AWOL), Rumsfeld…the list goes on and on. It’s a psychological thing for these guys. They felt like cowards their whole lives, and the only way they can recapture their manhood is by “proving” how much they love this country by being pro-war and hyper-confrontational. That’s the definition of a chickenhawk.

What an idiot. I thought Minnesotans were rational, level-headed people.

I’m disturbed by the linking of the disparagement of elected official with the term “killing”—in the popular mind this easily moves from”killing this travesty” to killing those you disagree with. No wonder there are so many death threats against Obama, with this kind of rhetoric becomes the norm in political discourse.

People claiming to be conservatives do not need to be swimming in the same sewer as the Democrats. The Dems (like Howard Dean) went around this country proclaiming that GW Bush “was the enemy”. I agree that the present power structure in Washington DC has weakened this country in all aspects of how that is defined. However, the way to correct that is to vote them out. The terrorists are after ALL of us, regardless of political affiliation. Allen Quist should remember that.

Forget the wars raging around the world, Mr. Quist has a war raging in his head. If you really listen to people, they’ll tell you exactly who they are. Mr. Quist is not a conservative, he’s a radical and a deranged radical at that. Maybe if he had ever fought in a “real” war instead of a delusional war he would have some idea of what constitutes “the enemy”. Hint, it is not your fellow Americans. All states have their extreme politicos trying to get some attention. Good luck with yours Minnesota.

Suppose someone is agasint the death penalty-are they an enemy of the state more dangerous than Bin Laden? A leftie?
I suppose that if Bin Laden would be arrested or shot on the spot then the same end should come to a leftie….But-suppose this someone is againstt the death penalty becasue they are a Christian and thinks all life is sacred? Or this person is a real Conservative who does not think the Federal government should have that kind of power over the individual…Shoot first and ask questions later? Quist is a moron disguised as an idiot.

The only other gubernatorial candidate to announce a running mate so far has been Republican state Rep. Marty Seifert. He picked Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah. It will be interesting to see how many other candidates opt to make their picks before next month’s state conventions. http://8acollective.com/scholarship/10-basic-postgraduate-scholarships.html
