Fresh off ‘Tiger needs Jesus’ comment, Fox’s Hume headed to Minneapolis

Brit Hume, who has faced some backlash over his statements about Tiger Woods in recent days, will be headlining a dinner for the Center for the American Experiment, a conservative think tank, according to an email from the group. The event, headlined by the Fox News analyst and talk show host, will be held May 5 at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis.
Hume caused a minor kerfuffle in recent day after saying that Tiger Woods could “recover as a person” after much-publicized cases of marital infidelity if he converts to Christianity.
“Tiger Woods will recover as a golfer. Whether he can recover as a person I think is a very open question, and it’s a tragic situation for him. I think he’s lost his family, it’s not clear to me if he’ll be able to have a relationship with his children, but the Tiger Woods that emerges once the news value dies out of this scandal — the extent to which he can recover — seems to me to depend on his faith. He’s said to be a Buddhist; I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.’”
(On Bill O’Reilly’s show on Fox, Hume said he didn’t consider his words a form of “proselytizing.”)
Attendees can sit with Hume for $25,000. If that’s too expensive, seats at the cheaper “Fox News Sunday” Table go for $10,000.
CAE is probably best known by its former director, conservative Star Tribune Katherine Kersten.
Here’s the Daily Show’s take on Hume’s comments:

Maybe the Center of the American Experiment should put Mike Parry and a few others on the agenda for their event too. They could make it a “tone-deaf Republican” night – although I know they’re a “non-partisan” organization.

Ambrose – think you have quite the idea there. Expand the list and events though … include Gov. Sanford singing Don’t Cry for Me Argentina (dressed like Madonna) …. Senator Craig doing a vaudeville-style tap dance … and Jim Baker to lead a prayer for control over the one-eyed dictator that does the thinking for so many men in public life

More power to them as they gather to stroke each other’s egos, FWIW. IMHO, its a scheme to bilk money out of others’ pockets and into their own.
