Bachmann, Kline join fight against gay marriage in nation’s capital

Reps. Michele Bachmann and John Kline joined 37 other members of Congress in calling on the courts to force the District of Columbia to put same-sex marriage on the ballot. The District’s mayor signed an ordinance allowing for same-sex couples to marry late last year.
Bachmann and Kline signed their names to a brief (pdf) submitted to the D.C. Superior Court by televangelist Pat Robertson’s American Center for Law and Justice.
“Under the United States Constitution, they serve as members of the ultimate legislative authority for the District of Columbia and the very body which delegated to the District its limited legislative power under home rule,” the filing states. “As members of the District’s ultimate legislative body, amici are concerned about the extent of the District’s delegated legislative authority, the preservation of Congress’s constitutional authority, and the interpretation of home rule.”
The court has 30 days to rule on the issue before the law takes effect.

There are two active war fronts, a third opening in Yemen, a fragile economy with a job-less recovery; mortgage foreclosures abound, especially in the Mn 6th District.
Is Representative Bachmann on the front lines of these issues, seeking ways to create peace, hold anti-western terrorists at bay, finding ways for people to keep their jobs and homes?
No …. it is MUCH more important to have the federal government intrude into one little patch of America – Washington DC – and interfere with local law issues regarding marriage.
If the people in the Minnesota 6th are good with those priorities it comes as a surprise.
