DNC day one: The Obamanator

The convention is underway. I know this because I saw Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper pronounce it so while bellied up to the bar of the Wynkoop Brewing Company. Among the featured beers: the Obamanator. Of course. Here’s the description. “This beer is a unique creation of our brewmaster, available through election season. Deep golden in color, it contains the bready Vienna malt body of German Maibock lager combined with an American citrus dry hopped note, making it a hybrid style of beer. Watch out for the strength of this one, which is masked by its smooth lager character.”
My take: fruity. Now off to the convention. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is slated to speak at 6:30.

Denver trivia: Mayor Hickenlooper founded Wynkoop Brewing Company in 1988 and was an owner until he sold his interest in 2007. It's always been one of the country's premier brewpubs.
