I don’t know if God sent the earthquake to punish Haitians for their unbelief. I do know God is loving but also just and jealous of our attention. God lists the blessings if you follow him and the curses if you don’t in the Bible. He says it is not a mystery. Ever see a 30 year old sex junkie with aids, a cigarette smoker dying of lung cancer, an alchoholic dying of liver disease? I know bad things can happen to Christians too, however any look at the sociological journals at your local community college library confirms living a life commited to Christ greatly improves the quality and longevity of that life.

Pat Robertson should know about the pact with his father satan.
I am sure his father showed him the contract. He is now taking advantage of the earthquake by having his own “BEG A THON”, to generate money for himself. How can he stand to see people buried alive and hungry for all of these days and say such a thing. (sigh)
What would Jesus do??????????????

The truth is that society, a.k.a., white people have always destroyed everything that wasn’t white, especially when it come to Africans. The history that is taught in Europe, Africa, and in most overseas countries is totally different from whats being taught here in America. If Jesus can be crucified, anybody can be crucified, by the people in control.

What cowards the MFC are! They obviously figured that blindly supporting someone like Pat Robertson can cause them issues! since the world of Religion denounced what he said!

i would love to see Tom over at the MFC respond to this!

Now let me get this straight, the oppressed slaves of Haiti decided that it would better to make a pact with the devil to gain freedom than to remain as oppressed slaves; is that how this story goes? Either choice appears to be to be a difficult one doesn’t it? Which would you have chosen?

When I was growing up, I was taught to ask myself 3 questions about whatever I said:

Is it true?
Is it kind?
Is it helpful?

At a time when a country has experienced such devastation, it would have been far more beneficial if Pat Robertson had asked himself those three questions. Or he could have referred to Philippians 4:8:

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Or perhaps that was too obscure for him. How about “Love your neighbor as yourself.”!

I’m still wondering where he found the passage, “Kick your neighbor while they’re down.”

CHARLOTTE (AP) — A religious broadcaster is building a $4 million home in a gated, lakefront community in western South Carolina at the same time that the ministry has cut jobs and reset thermostats to save money in its new headquarters. Inspiration Networks’ CEO David Cerullo is building the 9,000-square-foot home on a lot that overlooks Lake Keowee, The Charlotte Observer reported Monday.

Inspiration Networks has drawn scrutiny for up to $26 million in incentives it won from South Carolina to move from Charlotte to Indian Land, S.C., in Lancaster County. The network’s revenues are expected to approach $100 million, largely donations from people who are told God favors those who donate. Cerullo has said 80 cents of each donated dollar is spent to spread the Gospel.

Life is SWEET!

In addition to laying off workers, the newspaper reported, the ministry froze wages and stopped making contributions to 401(k) retirement accounts. The thermostat on the network’s new building was cut to 65 degree during the winter.

A network spokesman did not respond to calls and e-mails requesting comment on the house. Cerullo defended his $1.5 million in compensation in a March interview and said he rejected recommendations that he be paid more.

“If they’ve got these kinds of assets, does the state really need to offer … tax breaks?” asked Don Weaver, president of the S.C. Association of Taxpayers. Employees told the newspaper the ministry began laying off some workers late last year. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, is investigating the finances of six other televangelists and told the newspaper that leaders of religious nonprofits should be careful not to use viewers’ donations to adopt extravagant lifestyles. IRS rules bar nonprofits from paying “unreasonable compensation” to officials.

There is an historical precedent for Robertson’s statement. While I think it was wrong of him to tie a Vodou slave revolt 200 years ago to an earthquake today, he did indicate an intent to help through more than just prayer. One of the problems is that today’s secular environment condemns religious and spiritual connections out of hand, yet the foundation of America is religious not secular.
