Taken under consideration the declaration that Dr. Robertson had proffered about Haiti on TV after the passage of the terrible earthquake, behold! Let it be known that the voice of ignorance once again has spoken.

He is not, I repeat, he is not a compassionate man. In the book of Matthew 5:7 and I quote "Blessed are the merciful so they will be shown mercy". And furthermore it is stated in Romans 12:15 "Rejoice with people who rejoice; weep with people who weep". God will not show mercy to him when he comes to His Holy throne in the last judgement day.

This man is not a christian, maybe he is a Muslim. Because in a devastated moment like this, who else but him should go on television opening his big mouth by shouting and celebrating death instead of promoting life? In the event, 200,000 people were killed during that earthquake. Dr. Robertson are you heartless?

Too imply that religion (Christianity in particular) has direct corollary to being uneducated is to grossly misrepresent the history of edcation in our country. Yale, Harvard, Princeton etc... Look into their founding history. Public education in general was established by Church people and overtaken through time by the Government. Look at the drastic decline in the education and level of learning in this country especially beginning in 1963 when prayer was removed from public schools.

The thing is the cowardly notion of putting up blog postings and then taking them down again.

Instead of showing remorse and posting that.

Its past an insensitive blog post, its a disgrace and all Christians should be ashamed to share the same arena as those cult like groups such as the Minnesota Family council.

No, they have it backward. Look at all the devastation caused in Christian Florida, Louisiana and Hawaii by hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Iniki. Apparently MORE voodoo is called for, not less. (Unless of course natural disasters aren't affected by the religious views of the people who happen to live there, but hey, who could believe THAT?)

So God punished a pact with the devil by killing the descendants over 200 years later? This makes sense to anyone?

Maybe people who don't want to believe disasters happen outside anyone's control, so therefore disaster must be divine punishment, and they look for something for God to punish. In this case, they use a bigoted view of a story from Haitian history. If there was some angry god handing out punishment, wouldn't he punish whoever made the pact with the devil? Might he not make the reason crystal clear instead of leaving believers to try to piece together what a disaster could mean, the big flaming letters in the sky kind of thing?

Hey, here's a thought. Maybe it has nothing to do with divinity, and everything to do with plate tectonics. Or is that just another science-y thing to be denied?

What a curious claim: the Christian faith is the way to social progress. If you plot levels of religiosity in the US by state against measures of education and social problems, the correlation is unmistakable. The more religious the state is, the worse off it is on almost every measure that counts--life expectancy, literacy, education, divorce, intelligence estimates, etc., etc.

Likely, religious belief is a function of general social underdevelopment and especially social insecurity. It also likely functions as a contributor to these same overall problems in the sense that much of religious 'thought' is devoted to a kind of folk, non-scientific, pseudo-explanatory and prescriptive scheme.

The absolute last thing the Haitians need is evangelical Christianity--which would be an obscene distraction from what actually brings about positive change. Instead of faith they need health care. Not churches, but nutritious food. Not prayer, but a solid education system. Not a debasing and enervating theology, but a non-corrupt and democratically elected government (the US is very guilty in this regard vis-a-vis its role there), and more.

Dr. Robertson? Last I knew he has a Masters in Divinity, but I don't recall him having a doctorate.

What is with these conservatives inventing "Dr." titles for themselves? Dr. Laura, Dr. Jeremiah Cummings... WTF?

I was always taught that you got something for selling your soul to the devil... hot babes, money, good times all the way up to the final day. Sure seems Haiti got bupkis for their pact.

If you go to their blog site of the MFC now, there was in place a blog about a "smart conservative" like replacing their support of Pat R with oh no we really are not dumb? Is that going to work?

their damage has been done. Good for the people at the Minn Independ for reporting on the truth and the truth is that they spew more voodoo than anyone that follows a different belief system than they do.

The truth is that they do not stand for anything but instead like a post left on the blog, they stand against. i agree with that comment posted on their blog site. They are against everything but stand for nothing. They condemn but do not give.

They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for those blog posts.
