Kline co-sponsored resolution honoring the ‘exemplary’ James O’Keefe

Rep. John Kline was among several members of Congress who signed a resolution praising the work of James O’Keefe, who was arrested Monday for using false pretenses to enter a federal office with intent of interfering with telephone lines. The October resolution praised O’Keefe’s undercover investigation of ACORN as “exemplary actions” and is states that he is “owed a debt of gratitude by the people of the United States.”
O’Keefe was arrested yesterday; authorities say he and another man aided and abetted two others in attempting to interfere with the phones at the offices of Sen. Mary Landrieu in New Orleans, a felony because it was on federal property.
Here’s the resolution Kline supported:
RESOLUTION
Honoring the fact-finding reporting done by Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III in their investigation in the fraudulent and illegal practices and misuse of taxpayer dollars by the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN).
Whereas Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III filmed investigatory videos uncovering the fraudulent and illegal practices of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN);
Whereas the House of Representatives voted to completely defund ACORN on September 17, 2009;
Whereas these videos resulted in the potential annual savings of millions of taxpayer dollars to organizations that contract with ACORN;
Whereas Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III have displayed exemplary actions as government watchdogs and young journalists uncovering wasteful government spending; and
Whereas Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III are owed a debt of gratitude by the people of the United States: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives–
(1) honors Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III for their work as investigative journalists;
(2) commends Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III for bringing to light the fraudulent behavior of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) and helping save millions of taxpayer dollars that otherwise would have funded ACORN; and
(3) respectfully requests the Clerk of the House to transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe III.

Heavily edited video with voice overs used to “expose” ACORN hardly constitutes journalism, more like propaganda. Fox news likes to use these questionable techniques to dramatize their own stories. Mr. Kline does himself no favors by endorsing this type of activity by the likes of Mr. O’Keefe.
Perhaps Mr. Kline would like to turn O’Keefe and Giles loose on the contractors that have been defrauding the taxpayers in Iraq and Afghanistan?

The Congressional Research Service recently exonerated ACORN, finding no incidents where the organization broke any laws or misspent any federal funds. But that doesn’t matter does it? Only the Republicans’ “truth” matters.

Thanks to all the voters who voted for Kline.
Doing a heck of a job Voters!!!! Maybe now voters will wake up and smell the coffee.
Just fyi,
In googling “the Leadership Institute” where Basel and O’Keefe received money to start the conservative papers at the Universities.
The Institute was started by Morton Blackwell, bio includes:
Young Republican state chairman in Louisiana.
He served on rules committees of the state Republican parties in Louisiana and in Virginia. He serves now on the RNC’s Standing Committee on Rules and has attended every meeting of the Republican National Conventions’ Rules Committees since 1972.
In 2004 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the RNC.
His institute prepares conservatives for success in politics, government and the news media. Over the years the Leadership Institute has trained more than 79,000 students. It currently has revenue of $12.7 million per year and a staff of 58.

Can anyone say lawsuits against O’Keefe & Giles have been filed by ACORN in Pennsylvania and Maryland, and that bill of attainders are constitutionally illegal? Really, Kline and the other 30 co-sponsors of this “resolution” honoring O’Keefe need to bone up on the US Constitution and our laws. Some of the conservatives seem to never get tired of exposing their ignorance to the world and embarrassing all Americans.
