Updated: A Joseph Basel — possibly of Minnesota and involved in an alleged phone-tampering against Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana — follows veteran rightwing prankster James O’Keefe on Twitter.

JEBasel” has only two tweets of his own, the latest from Dec. 18: “Minnesota needs global warming NOW! Workers of Minnesota Unite!”

But among the 35 Twitter feeds he follows are O’Keefe and two accounts associated with conservative anti-ACORN cheerleader Andrew Breitbart.

Update: JEBasel also follows Francisco Gonzalez, whose latest tweet reads: “Please pray for my friends @JamesOKeefeIII and Stan Dai. They and Joe Basel were arrested by the Feds: http://bit.ly/aHcw90.” (Another person JEBasel follows: timpawlenty.)

JEBasel’s Twitter avatar photo also resembles the avatar for a Facebook account belonging to a Joseph Basel who studied at the University of Minnesota-Morris.

Well, Robert Flanagan has just destroyed his father’s career. As a Federal Employee a person cannot have felony crimes in their family. Shocking!

They better see what other phones they tapped.

* Just think, in a few days there are 8 young MN’s gettinr ready to go to Federal Trial. Their houses were raided and they were held for length of the RNC. They were the organizers of the logistics for those protesting the RNC and its policies.
The State has charged them with conspiracy to riot and terrorism. (terrorism has been dropped). These young people all contribute to the betterment of our society, yet are treated like criminals.

I wonder what the 3 GOP activists and others who set out to wire tap and who knows what else (extortion) of a US Senator will be charged with and will it go to trial?

In googling “the Leadership Institute” where Basel and O’Keefe received money to start the conservative papers at the Universities.
The Institute was started by Morton Blackwell, bio includes:

Young Republican state chairman in Louisiana.

He served on rules committees of the state Republican parties in Louisiana and in Virginia. He serves now on the RNC’s Standing Committee on Rules and has attended every meeting of the Republican National Conventions’ Rules Committees since 1972.

In 2004 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the RNC.

His institute prepares conservatives for success in politics, government and the news media. Over the years the Leadership Institute has trained more than 79,000 students. It currently has revenue of $12.7 million per year and a staff of 58.
