bachmann3Rep. Michele Bachmann may skip the high-priced national Tea Party convention after all. She told MinnPost on Wednesday that ethics concerns may prevent her from attending the convention since the event is for-profit and the host may be tied to a 527 advocacy group. The convention in Nashville is just one of more than a half-dozen appearances Bachmann has scheduled around the country in the next month.

“We’ve been getting conflicting advice from different sources on if we can or cannot participate, and if the advice is conflicting, I think we need to err on the side of caution, but we’ll make a final decision,” she told MinnPost. “We’re reevaluating right now and we’re trying to decide what would be the right thing to do.”

Her Tennessee counterpart, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, is also considering pulling out over ethical concerns.

“We just checked with Blackburn’s office and according to them, they’re still attending,” Bachmann spokesman Dave Dziok said in an e-mail to the Tennessean on Tuesday. “We still plan to attend” and “are all just crossing our t’s and dotting our i’s to make sure everything’s in line ethically.”
