Rep. Michele Bachmann appeared in a video promotion this week for the upcoming Keep God in America Rally, which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., in March. Organizers say the event is intended to bring the God of the founding fathers back into glory. “Today, in the name of ‘equality’ and ‘political correctness’ the basic liberty to love and worship God is being undermined,” the Keep God in America website states. “A vocal minority has undertaken a mission to rewrite history and force the majority of Americans to live in a society without God.”
In the four-minute ad, Bachmann railed against what she views as government overreach and the eroding of religious liberty.
She concludes, “I thank you for keeping God in America and for everything they are trying to do and I count it a privilege to be a part of its call.”

How conveniently that the “God of our Founding Fathers” was Deist, Unitarian, and/or Universalist, along with Christian, depending on which “Founding Father” you wish to look at.
I have no problem with keeping “God” in America (indeed, who can keep an all-powerful, ever-present “God” out?).
I have a problem forcing God into Government, where God does not belong.
Even First President George Washington (himself a Christian) said that it doesn’t matter what religion an American citizen believes in, so long as they are moral, obey the laws of the land, and active in their duties, they are good citizens.

Sorry!
“How conveniently THEY FORGET that the ‘God of our Founding Fathers’ was Deist, Unitarian, and/or Universalist, along with Christian, depending on which ‘Founding Father’ you wish to look at.”

Can this “vocal minority” please hurry up. I’ve been living without a “God” in my house for years, and it is bliss. Now we just need to get “God” out of our society, and let the sunshine in.

Yes, true. Many of the founders looked with horror at the religions of the day – and found them wanting…

Whatever god Ms. Bachmann consorts with, s/he seems to have no problem with lying. If heaven is going to be populated with liars and haters like Bachmann, I’ll be glad to be elsewhere.

You mean, the founding fathers that included a separation of church in state into the constitution…?

And since the Founding Fathers didn’t allow women to vote let’s bring that back as well. And slavery. And Senators elected by state legislatures. You can’t have too much 18th century thinking!

I find it amusing that in typical conservative style she thinks that anything any politician or party could do could possibly affect God’s intent or actions.
Of course I could be wrong, as, apparently, the cons have a direct line on the mind of God.

I dont know what it is…that crazed, vacant scientologyh stare, or the divisive lying and robotically spouted GOP talking points, but it’s clear she’s a loose cannon blinded by ideology and agenda. This is a woman who fostered over 20 children…ALL OF THEM TEENAGE GIRLS!! Man that’s creepy…clearly she did this because she doesnt want them to have abortions!
One issue, one purpose, and it all stops there.
Fortunately, her position will probably be vacated with redistricting of her clearly-gerrymandered district. Ever seen a map of the 6th district? It’s clearly demographically drawn.

Sorry to say it Minnesotans, but this nut-job is all yours and it’s up to the 6th(or the census) to remove this woman from office.

Most everything this woman says is true. Our society has gotten coarse and is promoting that which is evil as good and that which is good as evil. The comments some people make on here about God are shocking and if it’s the attitude of so many people here in this country then it’s no wonder our nation is dying.

I lost interest and respect for MB when she kissed “W” on the mouth during his visit to MN, moreso when she advocated an “armed insurrection” against the incoming Dem admin. Doing all she can to win the evang’l right, both their hearts & wallets, her naive mix of flag-and-cross ideas is a poor, and dangerous, cover for her lack of anything productive or sensible to offer as an elected official. btw, how many diff versions of “God” and His rules are there just in her district? Whose does she reject? If she wants a theocracy, she should buy a burka.

I could not resist the temptation to paste something written by George Washington:
“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.”

Dave, it is interesting to note that your post was made at 3:33PM. As we all know, 333 is one half of the devil’s number (666), and given that you posted this in the PM (the dark of night) rather than the AM (the light of day), it cannot be any clearer than the nose on my face that the quote you have provided by George Washington is a farce, and you are a deceiver and, in the words of Pat Robertson, in a pact with the devil himself.
Repent of your wicked ways, O! foolish one!
(The following comment was made in a spirit of jest at the conservatives who feel America’s animosity towards “God” is unwarranted.)
