Unless this was a traffic stop (and it doesn't sound like it is), the squad camera probably wasn't on. It's only required on traffic stops.

I'm sort of familiar with the 27th and Washington area. The bus stop the people in this story were arrested at is the end of the 17W bus line, and has been a bus layover for decades. Other than the bus parking spot, there is about 25-30 feet of space between the sidewalk and the rail yard fence that is a grassy area with a few trees. Sometimes homeless people sleep there. Going west on 27th a block there is a community garden and then the street curves south again because there is a set of probably 6 railroad tracks leading to Shoreham rail yards.

The protesters say they were on the 17 bus and have witnesses. Where is the camera footage from the bus? All local buses have cameras now, and the buses they use on the 17 and 18 are generally very new ones; don't tell me all of the 2-3 or more cams on that bus were malfunctioning.

On the other hand, one could make the argument that these people were loitering at the end of a bus line at the end of the Rt. 17 service day (last south trip leaves around 1230, no more trips back to town til after 4.) Still, this yard deals with all kinds of cargo containers marked "China Shipping" and the junk they get from there, largely unscreened at the ports, would be more of a threat than a few protesters.
