I have no idea why some conservatives push the false meme that progressives are “freeloaders and thieves” without documented information to back it up. Being poor doesn’t necessarily mean that a person doesn’t work. In fact, most poor people have jobs. Being poor doesn’t necessarily mean that a person votes for democratic candidates either. This meme is used as a wedge issue to supplant the fact that we are all citizens of the same country, and we rise or fall together, despite our differences. I am a progressive and a retired high school teacher of 33 years. I have never been unemployed, on welfare, homeless, stole anything, or been unable to manage my finances. Although I’ve been fortunate to be in this position, I refuse to close my eyes to the fact that there are millions of my fellow citizens who aren’t. I refuse to act as if they don’t exist, that this situation doesn’t exist, and I am more than willing to pay more in taxes to change the status quo. As a Christian, I always keep the following in the forefront of my mind:

Democrats were elected, but there job remains to represent the people that elected them. Once you get elected your not free to do as you please, it is it represent the people that elected you. Even if you say healthcare reform was wanted, it obviously was not wanted as outlined in this plan. The majority did not want this and were ignored. Let us go back and remember the definition of a Representative.

I have to assume you actually believe this statement, but I must ask, what is wrong with you? The American people elected a Democratic president, a Democratic Senate, and a Democratic House. Most of these candidates, including Obama, ran on a promise to reform healthcare, and they were elected overwhelmingly. Now they have taken a step to reform health care, as they promised.

To you, political leaders doing what they were elected to do shows “complete disregard and disrespect of the American people”. I have to ask again, what is wrong with you? I’m genuinely concerned.

America is over 12 trillion in debt with 10s of trillions of unfunded liabilities. Don’t you idiots get it? You can’t afford this “healthcare” bill! You can’t afford anything.

Stop appealing to emotion and wake up to the reality – America, in these coming years, is going to face an economic meltdown. Your idiot leaders (Obama, Bush etc) have shafted the American people, promising them “free” goodies like government healthcare that are totally unsustainable.
