Video: Americans United for Change hits Bachmann on health vote

As we reported Sunday night, Americans United for Change will be airing a commercial criticizing Rep. Michele Bachmann for her no vote on health care reform Sunday night. The spot, which airs Tuesday in the Twin Cities media market with a media buy of more than $100,000, targets the Sixth District Republican for voting “against giving you the same insurance choices she gets.”
Touting the historic nature of the Mar. 21 vote, the group’s acting director Tom McMahon said, “And just like Social Security or Medicare or civil rights, those like Congresswoman Bachmann who voted to protect the status quo will find themselves on the wrong side of history.” He continued:
Michele Bachmann made a different kind of history by voting to deny giving Minnesotans access to the same kind of insurance she enjoys very much as members of Congress. If it’s good enough for her, shouldn’t it be good enough for the people of Minnesota? Congresswoman Bachmann seems very proud of herself for voting to protect the profits of insurance companies that see absolutely nothing wrong with raising premiums as high as 75 percent. She’s patting herself on the back for siding with the big insurance companies over her constituents that have gone bankrupt after they got seriously ill and soon found their coverage rescinded. Bachmann seems awful proud to have stood up for an industry that considers domestic violence or having had a C-section to be “pre-existing conditions.” And remarkably, Congresswoman Bachmann, who is pro-life, chose to ignore the 45,000 Americans that die each year because they don’t have insurance and can’t get the care they need.”

Mr Ratigan your rant with Mrs Wasserman was a disgrace. You might as well had been Hannity, O’Riely or God forbid Beck. I understand you passion but it seems to me that you expect to solve the healthcare situation with one wave of the magic wand. If I had my way there would be no health Insurance Co’s but there is the practicalities of politics

Because of this bill, next year my health insurance is threatening to raise my deductible to $10,000 and increase my premiums over four times what they ar now. No matter how many times proponents say this will not change our current coverage they were lying. This was the worst possible solution to something that isn’t working right. This bill is filled with junk and pushed through just to get ‘something’. Anyone that voted for this will find out this fall how much people really hate this bill. If this group puts out this ad they will find out that it will probably swing more votes to Michele’s side rather than against her.
