St. Cloud church buys anti-Islam ad

Pastor Dennis Campbell

Granite City Baptist Church raised some eyebrows this weekend when it bought an ad (pdf) in the St. Cloud Times that questioned whether Muslims are a “threat” to America. “How do Moslems seek to take control of a nation?” the ad, which features a photo of Pastor Dennis Campbell, asks. “Moslems seek to influence a nation by immigration, reproduction, education, the government, illegal drugs and by supporting the gay agenda.”

The ad is part of a string of incidents in St. Cloud that troubles human rights advocates. Within the last year, pornographic posters depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammed were put up on St. Cloud telephone polls, and Muslim students in St. Cloud area high schools have reported religious harassment.

Last week, MPR reported on several racist Facebook groups that were created by St. Cloud high school students. “I hate the Somalians at Tech High,” was one such group. Kyle Adams, a former student at St. Cloud Technical High School (he was kicked out for repeatedly using racial slurs) told MPR, “I was raised in believing that this country was founded upon a white Christian nation and the belief of racial separation.”

The Granite City Baptist Church ad seems to mirror some of that anti-Muslim sentiment. “What happens when Moslems take over a nation?” asks Campbell in the ad. “They will destroy the constitution and force the Moslem religion on the society, take freedom of religion away, and they will persecute all other religions.”

(Hat tip, Lower Case.)

Moslem fear has been cultivated by many groups, for their personal gains. I feel sorry that Pastor Campbell a leader of Church would resort to such hateful means to draw attention. If Jesus of Nazareth is Pastor Campbell’s guidance; let me remain the good Pastor, that Jesus was an Arab Palestinian Jew, who preached love.

The Muslims may never be powerful enough to take over the whole government but they will fight to introduce Sharia law into the USA and our politically correct politicians jsut may cave in to them before they realize the true Muslim agenda: Total world domination. They don’t mince words about it, Muslima want the whole world to convert and let the world be ruled by the Mullahs. Reject Islam if you cherish freedom and respect women. Ridiculous.

This pastor is so ignorant.
He probably does not know that Muslims believe in Jesus as Messiah and Christ, his Virgin Birth, his 2nd coming.

I think he is also forgetting about what Jesus said:
“Take out the log from your eye first, so you can see better in taking out the needle from your neighbor’s eye.”

Better to look inside then out.

Pastor, get the book Islam for Dummies. It will save your congregation and St. Cloud a great deal of trouble.

There was a Congressman from Virginia who welcomed Keith Ellison essentially with the same ignorant rhetoric. Apparently, the people in his district did not approve of his behavior as he was not re-elected.

With these kinds of people around, I don’t think Bachmann needs to worry too much. She represents the people who elect her.

In this country, whether Christian or Muslim or whatever, the Law of the United States should be above everyone’s selfish agendas and their negative religious ideology. Solving differences not by other means but by the law of the land is the reflection of the unshakeable foundation upon which this beautiful country was founded and that is why this nation keeps going for almost two centuries and half. So, my christian brothers and sisters of St. Cloud, my Muslim brothers and sisters of St. Cloud, please respect diversity and the peaceful co-existence in our city.
Concerned, nine-year St. Cloud Resident,

Where to start? First of all, I apologize on behalf of myself and, Dave as you qouted Ghandi saying, Christians seeking to live like Christ. There needs to be more understanding of other religions and less forceful judgement based on assumptions.

I agree the pastor should have looked more at Muslim’s beliefs and Christ’s example of love and leave the perhaps fear-based posts at the door. His words were not reflective of a God who cares and holds truth. His words were reflective of a heart and mind based on action and judgement and that is not the true belief of Christians.

That is why I apologize and ask for forgiveness for what Christians portray sometimes. We do stand firm in our beliefs and that does coincide with Islam in many ways but it is also seperate in it’s relationship and theology. Please know, he does not represent true Christianity. I pray that he sees that and is able to make ammendments for this.

Relax, folks, its membership drive every week at your local fundamentalist church.

Ads like this bring in the stup, er, faithful like nothing else. Who wants to go to church and be called a sinner when you can go to church and call other people sinners? Who wants to hear about loving your neighbor and the stranger among you and redemption when you can hear about fear and bigotry in the sanitizing presence of a “Bible-based” church.

My concern is that those attracted by this won’t be able to pony up any dough for the church, having spent it all stocking up on ammo and pictures of Obama with a mustache.

Pastor Campbell, I think your marketing department screwed up, you’ll bring in a lot of “worshipers” but not much money. Next time, do a little “Osteen”, prosperity gospel and “faith seed money” is where stup, er, faithful people can be separated from their hard-earned money. No charge for the advice, your thanks is enough.

Its good to see that some in the US are waking up to the threat that islam poses. Everyday I read the reports on http://thereligionofpeace.com/ and its always the same. Islamic repression of women, other religions, human rights, etc.

Islam is nothing but a satanic death cult that encourages pedophilia, rape, murder, thieving and lying.

The only mistake that Pastor Campbell makes is his claim that islam supports the gay agenda. Far from it. Moslems have recently attacked gays in San Francisco, Minnesota and Maine.

However, they may promote it to undermine US society in the same way they are moving into the illegal drugs business.

As their great leader Mahound once said “war is deceit”. Beware the wolf in sheep’s clothing.

In a previous comment, someone named Ahmed made a comment about Jesus and islam.

Unfortunately, and not unsurprisingly, what he didn’t tell you was the truth.

Moslems call this takiya, or lying for the sake of islam.

Everyone should look up for themselves what Mahound really said about Jesus – that he wasn’t the Son of God, that he didn’t die on the cross, etc. and that when he comes again, he will return as a moslem and destroy Christianity.

Mark Montgomery says: “Reject Islam if you cherish freedom and respect women.”

Uhh … is it ISLAM that’s trying to destroy access to abortion, and women’s health care in general, in this country? I don’t think so.

One might more accurately say, “reject all those who would impose their own religious views on you, if you cherish freedom and respect women.”

It is so easy to drop a joke and make light of this. And it is pretty funny on its face.

However, let’s not forget that HALF OF AMERICANS believe in this crap.

That takes it from funny to terrifying in just under 3 seconds for me.

America, in its haste to be all things to all people, has succeeded in becoming The Land of The Crazies.

Problem is, The Crazies DON’T FRIGGIN’ KNOW they are crazy. And they will not be content until they have destroyed us ALL and our PLANET in order to play out their twisted little Armageddon fantasies.

The douchebaggery being played out in this country makes us look like a country of fools.

Interesting. The pastor is worried that Muslims are not just joining our melting pot but seeking to subvert it. Paranoid perhaps, but the CAIR ad screams “We’re here. Too late, Buddy.”

Many people observe that American Muslims were lukewarm in their condemnation of the 911 attacks, much like the majorities of places like Iran, where they are unwilling to stand publicly against the tyrants, ostensibly out of fear.

I fail to see any controversy here. Campbell speaks the truth. Muslims act as the “cringing minority”. CAIR cries foul as it is their mission. Islamization continues. Simple. The war and invasion started by Mohammed 1400 years ago continues.

Gary,
is repression of women, other religions, human rights, specific to Muslims?

Do the tenets of Islam actually encourage pedophilia, rape, murder, thieving and lying.

Are Muslims the only perpetrators of such crimes?

It seems that you only notice the Muslims who commit these crimes.

Perhaps it is the PEOPLE who commit crimes you should attack instead of their backgrounds because people of all religions, nationalities, ethnic groups etc commit such crimes and have since the beginning of time.

Perhaps it is not religions that are wrong, it’s the people who don’t make real commitments to them.

You might make your readings about Islam a bit more objective by visiting a mosque or talking to knowledgeable Muslims. I wouldn’t suggest reading a translation of the Qur’an as its only a translation. Be very careful about where you get your information.

Remember, there is really very little difference between people. We were all created by the same God and none of us is perfect.

Don’t beleive me. Beleive the muslims. This is what they are saying is their intent with us. Read their Koran. Yes Gary, rape, murder and theiving are parts of their tennets. Whatewver it takes to further the cause of Islam. You ignorance of the facts does not make the facts go away.

I am grateful and proud to call America my home and I will fight any nation / group that ever attack this nation. Muslims have done many horrible things and their action are despicable and they should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law, just like any other people; where they are Christian, Muslim, Jew, secular or not. My question to my Christian American brothers and sisters; why are you painting all American Muslim with the same brash. If there are bad Americans Muslims (which I am sure there are), point them out. Accusing some one falsely is not the teaching of Jesus Christ, whose teaching is still followed by Muslims, at least most of us.

Hey Dave Porter, so Ghandi says “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ.”
Why didn’t he end up following Christ and show the world how it’s supposed to be done?
It’s easy to criticize. It’s a lot tougher to take a stand and walk the walk.
Christ would have rebuked Ghandi for his pious actions just like he rebuked the rabbis.

Reza – may I ask from what it was you sought refuge in America? Let me guess – it was from a tyrannical government whose leaders were influenced by Islamic Sharia law, right? Isn’t it odd that people, who constantly bash America as being full or idolaters and infidels want to move here to find a better life? I don’t understand that one. Can someone explain that to me?
For your information, Muslims do not follow Christ’s teachings or what he lived and died for. Islam teaches that it wasn’t Christ who died on the cross and therefore he wasn’t resurrected. So you deny he diety. That is your error.
And if Muslims believe in Christ’s teachings, why do they so cruelly persecute, force to pay the “jizya” and kill people who convert from Islam to Christianity?

Reza

Hello Scott:
You have already sized me up, without knowing me. Most people in America are immigrant decent, so either they are 1st, 2nd or some generation, we came to this land. Most came for better life, which is true of Muslims also. There is no uniform belief of Christ; that is one reason why there are so many different groups who call themselves Christians. Let me tell you what Muslim belief of Christ: Jesus was born of virgin birth to Mary. He was a prophet, who performed many miracles and taught the word of God, like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon… the oneness of God. He was given the Bible. God ascend him to heaven and Jesus will return to earth before the day of Judgment. The teaching of Jesus is still followed by Muslim, because Islam is affirmation to Judaism and Christianity. I can confidently say that no Muslim will call them selves Muslim while insulting Moses or Jesus. That would go against the teaching of Islam.
Like I said before, there are good and bad people in every society, race, religion or country. If there are bad people, point them out; yes, there are many bad Muslims. If you look at your religion, you will find some bad people also. So please don’t blame all Muslim for the action of few.
I want to celebrate the goodness of people and extend out my hand to all. After all we are all children of God and we are co-inhabitant of this earth. We are also interdependent.
Shalom, Peace, Salaam.
