Rowley, Kline to Debate Friday
Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 8:30 am
Rep. John Kline (R-MN) and former FBI agent Coleen Rowley (D-MN), both candidates for Congress in Minnesota’s second Congressional district, will debate Friday at the Minnesota State Fair, according to a post on Rowley’s campaign weblog. The two candidates will be part of a brief panel discussion on WCCO-AM at 1:45 PM, and will engage in a full debate on the Jason Lewis show on KTLK-FM at 5:00 PM. It will mark the first debate of the campaign for the two candidates.
The race between Kline and Rowley has become rancorous of late, with Kline targeting the pro-drug-legalization opinions of an unpaid Rowley staffer. Rowley responded to the attacks by accusing Kline of dodging the issues.
At this time, no further debates are planned between the two candidates. According to the Rowley campaign, they have offered to debate Kline again during the Fair on Air America Radio, but Kline has thus far refused.
