Anderson to battle Bachmann… if he lands IP endorsement
Monday, April 05, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Bob Anderson, the independent candidate who in 2006 drew votes from Rep. Michele Bachmann and El Tinklenberg, her DFL-Independence Party opposition, says if he gets the Independence party endorsement he will enter the race again this cycle.
Last July, Anderson told the Minnesota Independent that he’d only consider running if the Independence Party did away with its policy of cross-endorsing. In November, it did. But now Anderson tells the the St. Cloud Times his entry into the race hinges on whether he lands the IP endorsement.
“I want to see where I stand with the party,” Anderson said. “If I can secure that endorsement, I’m moving forward.”
He’s the only candidate vying for the Independence party endorsement, and party officials say he is likely to get it.

So it would seem. Bob Anderson reminds me of the Monty Python spoof of British elections where the elections returns announced gains being made by the “Silly Party” showing one of the Pythons dressed in a clown suit, and crazy wig. Bob Anderson knows he is a spoiler. He can claim no other reason than his vanity and ego to be trying to run for this seat. If he has any credible or rational message for voters other than “I’m not that lying, bigot nutjob Bachmann” and “I’m not a communist, liberal, fascist DFL” I haven’t heard it.
And what were the 10% of voters who went for this character in 2008 thinking? Do they care about democracy? Or is this all a big joke to them? Are they the kind of people who write down “Jedi Knight” as their religion on the census forms? “I’m not going to vote for Bachmann because she’s too far out but I don’t like the DFL’er so I’ll vote for Bob Anderson?” We saw how well that worked. Will the “Independent” voter fall again for the same trick and give us Bachmann for another two years? This is the Sixth District so that’s where I’ll put my money. All I can say is: “Thanks, Bob.”
End of rant.

Mr. Anderson apparently prefers the surrealism of a Michele Bachmann as congressional representative over the sturdy, reality-grounded representation that the Democratic candidate – whether Tarryl Clark or Maureen Reed – will bring to Washington on behalf of the Minnesota 6th District voters.
For his candidacy will surely split the “not Michele” vote further, ensuring Mrs. Bachmann’s re-election.
One just has to wonder, though, why!?!?!

Yeah because, what this state needs is fewer choices, by gum.
