Group invites Bachmann to Minneapolis LGBT families conference
Friday, April 09, 2010 at 3:53 pm
The Family Equality Council, the “lead national organization advocating on behalf of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families,” invited Rep. Michele Bachmann to this weekend’s Rainbow Families conference in Minneapolis to “meet the families she is demonizing.” FEC criticized Bachmann’s statements about LGBT people, particularly in regard to hate crimes legislation.
“Considering what the congresswoman has said about LGBT people and their children, I call on her, from one mother to another, to show up at our conference tomorrow and meet the people she is demonizing,” said Jennifer Chrisler, FEC executive director in a statement on Friday. “The congresswoman says she’s about family values – yet she clearly doesn’t value all families. She says she’s about Christian values, but she doesn’t act like a Christian towards families like mine.”
One statement by Bachmann that the group has taken issue with is Bachmann’s testimony on the House floor on the hate crimes bill that became law last year. “But who would be protected? A pedophile, someone who considers themselves gay, someone who considers themselves transgender, someone who considers themselves a cross-dresser? That is who is protected.”
The group is also urging LGBT families to show up at Bachmann’s district office on Monday following the conference.
“Rep. Bachmann should meet LGBT parents and their kids who reside in Minnesota and across the country,” said Chrisler. “She would see there are a whole lot of qualified loving parents ready, willing, and able to adopt many of the 500,000 kids currently in foster care in the United States. If the congresswoman can’t make it Saturday, we urge conference attendees– LGBT parents– to show up at her district office on Monday morning.”

This is a very good move. You can’t change hearts if you don’t extend a hand of education, and she won’t change if she continues to live in her world of ignorance.

This woman is pure evil. You folks in Minn are probably quite embarrassed by her I would imagine. She comes across so like she thinks she is above others and I have to change the channel every time I see her on TV.

Dano,
Before you proclaim anyone else stupid, you might want to check your spelling. It is “sterilize” not “stearlize”. The statement should also read “I’m not nor ever will be” rather than “I’m not nor never will be”. It’s the using of double negatives that is incorrect. Now what was it you were saying about stupid f*cks?
Michele Bachmann will more than likely not show up as she would be afraid to speak to a group that didn’t agree with her. The woman is certifiably insane and should not be re-elected. Her choice of Palin to boost her credibility speaks volumes about how she thinks or should I say DOESN’T think! The hypocrisy and lies are evident in every sentence she spews.

There are two things that Michele Bachmann knows for sure:
Gays try to recruit you.
You can “catch” gay, no one knows how but it just happens. It’s kind of like a contagious choice, apparently.
Because Bachmann is the only thing standing between real Americans and Islamocommunifascisocialism, she can’t be expected to put herself at risk by attending this event.
Where would it leave us if she “caught the gay”?

Michelle won’t speak to her constituents – why would she speak to a group as obviously un-american as something called “The Family Equality Council”
And it’s easy to spot her reasoning, there are two un-american code words in the title – Equality and Council.

Haha, well Tim, as the Lavender Menace used to say, “10% is not enough! Recruit! Recruit! Recruit!” ^_^ I love my lesbians.

The LGBT inviting Bachmann is like the NRA inviting Barney Frank. He’d likely have to wash his hair that night; sorry, maybe next time.

Jimmy –
It wasn’t the LGBT doing the inviting – it was the Family Equality Council doing the inviting. At least they made the effort.

Running from Too Much Information for her. She would have to risk learning, a No No.

Dano must be about twelve or thirteen years old. I really can’t think of any other explanation.

She had to meet with the “Phelps” family for a prayer meeting.

This guy Dano is actually dumber than M.Bachman. If you can’t write a sentence, please get some help. If you’re drunk, stop it because it’s rotting your brain. If you’re just a mean fuck, please keep it to yourself. Or better yet, turn it inward. As for the invitation of the LGBT invite to Michelle Bachman, it reminds me of Van Jones brilliant comments to Glenn Beck. The way to disarm mean spirited, ignorant people, is to embrace them and tell them you love them (preferably in as public a forum as possible).

Dammit, Louisiana doesn’t have a hate crime problem since conceal and carry was passed, The Fed won’t and can’t protect you. Personal responsibility! Protect yourself and your family! Be gay, shoot straight.

Hey, any of you considered that maybe Dano’s doing a little satire? Note his comment to PQ: “i’m with you on this one” — no one really spells that poorly…

“I’m not nor ever will be” is wrong too. It should read
“I’m not and never will be”. Regardless, the meaning was clear, and pointing out grammatical errors is just distraction and desperation.
