PoliTweeps: On ‘grandmothering’ and ‘groveling’
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:10 am
In this edition, Republicans nitpick Democrats’ terminology and diplomacy, as the state party chair calls President Obama “Groveler in Chief” for bowing as he met China’s president, and a state legislator accuses Rep. Karen Clark of — gasp — political correctness “gone wild!”

—Rep. Paul Kohls (R-Victoria), District 34A
—Rep. John Lesch (DFL-St. Paul), District 66A
—Margaret Anderson Kelliher, state House Speaker and Democratic gubernatorial candidate
—Marty Seifert, Republican candidate for governor
—Lynne Torgerson, independent candidate for U.S. House, District 5
—Tony Sutton, state GOP chair

The depth of ignorance and disregard for the culture of others knows no bounds. There seems to be a lack of awareness that people in foreign countries have their own customs. Showing respect for them is not a sign of weakness. Only in the minds of the incurious and those with self-esteem issues would observing the customs of other nations be viewed as a sign of weakness.

Tarryl Clark is not a representative. She is a state senator. Do you have an internet connection?
